About the job

Job summary

This is an exciting time to be joining our Global Publishing Team as a Content Editor as we develop new digital products for our customers.

The Global Publishing Team is responsible for the development, maintenance and production of the UKHO’s extensive range of navigational and situational awareness Publications.  These publications are online/digital, in bespoke apps and printed.  This task encompasses the full spectrum of activity, from product updating and delivery, to the development of new products to meet the changing needs of our customers and ensure safety of life at sea.  Content Editors continuously update and develop this extensive range of Publications with support from Subject Matter Experts, users of these Publications and technological advances.

Maintaining our range of Publications is very much a team effort and Content Editors can be expected to contribute at every stage of the process whilst liaising closely with a wide range of other colleagues.  From researching new Port Infrastructures or Regulations, drafting updates for live publications, assessing, or editing imagery for inclusion in new publications through to compiling, formatting, and editing Publications for printing or digital publication and distribution.

Our teams across Operations work in different ways, depending on the ways of working of the team and customer needs.  Some hybrid/flexible working can be supported in the team – this will be agreed with Line Managers – at present Global Publishing Team members work in the office on a regular basis – working towards 60% in the office overall.

Please note our Policy on informal hybrid working (arrangements available as agreed with the line manager) applies within the UK, and does not extend to working overseas.
