Driven by government’s aim for clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse oceans and seas, MMO’s purpose is to protect and enhance our precious marine environment, and support UK economic growth by enabling sustainable marine activities and development.

We are the independent regulator for England’s seas, professionally delivering service-focussed outcomes for our customers.

We are a team of around 500 people and combine our Newcastle upon Tyne and London operations with a local presence around the English coastline in Brixham, Beverley, Harwich, Hastings, Lowestoft, North Shields, Hayle, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Preston, Scarborough, Shoreham, Whitehaven.

Job description 1

This is a really exciting time to join the MMO as we become an independent coastal state, embedding new repatriated functions and services with an increased focus on the protection and enhancing of the marine environment.

Within this role, you will support the Compliance Team in maintaining monitoring, updating and reporting of industry compliance with relevant legislation, and general compliance with environment and wildlife legislation, and monitoring, updating and reporting on MMO enforcement activities undertaken by MMO operational teams. You will contribute to national consistency between local offices and help to provide information to both support the delivery of activities, services and provision of management information to senior managers. You will support the wider Compliance team with responding to and managing queries through the Legislative Queries SharePoint site and Compliance Team mailbox. This role will offer support to the wider Investigations and Enforcement Team where required, and assist in maintaining internal and external networks with environment and wildlife stakeholders and colleagues.
