Job summary

We are looking for 4 Outstanding Commis Chefs who is looking to take the next step in their career journey.

This is an exciting position for someone to work in our Catering & Retail Services team at House of Lords that will cook in the famous Peers Dining Room which will provide fine dining for some of the country’s elite including Royalty and Members of State as well the Lords on a regular basis.

This is an opportunity to work in a unique venue in Parliament. You will be using the finest & freshest quality ingredients on a day-to-day basis and yes you heard this right, all done in the working week Monday to Friday!

As a Commis Chef you will deliver high levels of creativity, production, and service. Your passion will shine through the dishes you help create and feel comfortable to work in a fast-paced professional environment.

Job description

You’ll be accountable for/to:

  • Carrying out the mise-en-place tasks as set out by Line manager.
  • Help support stockholding, input to menus, ordering.
  • Complying with all House of Lords, food hygiene & health & safety procedures.
  • Ensure area of work is ready for start of service clean & tidy.
  • Have good knowledge of all menus and ingredients.

Person specification

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working in fine dining establishments.
  • A professional, innovative, creative chef with the skills and fortitude to tackle the range of challenges thought out the day with a passion to do and learn.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills, both written and oral, with the ability to build effective relationships and work successfully within a team.
  • NVQ Level 1 & 2 or 3 qualifications in Catering and Hospitality or equivalent work experience.
