Job Summary

In this role you will be responsible for managing an innovative new solution for CCS and have the scope to help shape emerging CCS solutions.

As a direct report to the Commercial Lead for Channel Solutions, you will take ownership for the management and support development of new and existing CCS channel solutions. 

You will take significant responsibility for managing ‘RM6202 - The Tail Spend Solution’ which is a new to market framework and the future iteration of this commercial agreement. You will support the future development of this and other enterprise solutions working in collaboration with a wide

variety of stakeholders and CCS as a whole, to deliver innovative Channel Solutions in partnership with Category subject matter experts.

As Operational owner of ‘RM6202 - The Tail Spend Solution’ you will work with customers and suppliers to contract manage the arrangement. In this highly collaborative role you will work alongside the CCS Customer Experience Directorate to facilitate smooth customer implementation onto our solution.

Team Summary

The Channel Solutions team within the New Product Development Unit has responsibility for 2 key areas:

  • Evolving the CCS Tail Spend Solution into a broader self service platform

  • Working with customers and suppliers on the current agreement to foster adoption and optimise commercial benefits

We are the primary hub for CCS Commercial strategy, innovating new routes to market and supporting Public Sector customers through dynamic utilisation of the supply market.

We are currently recruiting to expand our team of six Commercial professionals. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the business plan target to increase the delivery of spend related commercial benefits in excess of £3.3b each year 

  • Engaging routinely with stakeholders to drive adoption of the CCS Tail Spend Solution going forward. 

  • Conduct framework management ensuring effective spend under management performance, budget and forecasting alignment, contractual service level agreements (SLA’s) management, associated risk management and continuous improvement management through strong supplier relationships/service.

  • Support the development of (digital first) solutions to support the delivery of portfolio products that don’t meet return on investment thresholds. 

  • Develop a deep understanding of how technology can be used to improve customer access to our products and develop strategies to simplify buying. 

  • Support creation and execution of designated category/sub-category strategies.

  • Be involved in the development of market knowledge through user research and collaboration with customers, suppliers and across relevant teams within CCS, applying these learnings to create a deep understanding of customer requirements in your area of responsibility.

  • Support creation of business cases for new commercial agreements within the category, ensure effective adherence to governance processes for procurement activity and project delivery.

  • Ensure customers, government policy objectives, commercial strategy and procurement best practice are at the heart of digital solution development.

Person specification

Essential Criteria (To be assessed at application stage):

  • Proven experience in a Commercial role managing Contracts and Suppliers.

  • Strong team player – able to work collaboratively within a diverse team in a fast paced environment to deliver high performance.

  • Problem solving ability. You should have; a keen eye for detail, aiming to achieve innovative solutions to problems and experience of collaborative working on complex projects. 

  • Using good communication skills you actively build, maintain and nurture relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and manage stakeholder relationships effectively. 

  • You are able to identify and ensure all necessary reports are produced for all meetings and robust meeting minutes recorded.
