Job summary

The Channel Solutions team within the New Product Development Unit has responsibility for 2 key areas: 

  • Evolving the CCS Tail Spend Solution into a broader self-service platform. Working with customers and suppliers on the current agreement to foster adoption and optimise commercial benefits. 
  • We are the primary hub for innovating new routes to market and supporting Public Sector customers through dynamic utilisation of the supply market. 

We are currently recruiting to expand our team of six commercial professionals. Our existing Tail Spend solution, though relatively new, is performing well, with value provided to customers steadily increasing. Job description

Working within the newly established New Product Development unit as well as the broader commercial directorate and wider CCS business.

A direct report to the Head of Channel Solutions you will take responsibility for management of the Tail Spend Solution team (a new, innovative and core proposition for CCS) and the future development of related enterprise solutions including but not limited to the Tail Spend Solution commercial agreement.

In this exciting role you will influence the future development of the new and existing CCS portfolio and work closely with a range of senior stakeholders on the development of new Channel Strategies and Solutions. In this highly collaborative role, you will work across CCS to look at the bigger picture, facilitating smooth customer journeys through utilisation of simplified digital delivery as standard.

Person specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Influence the future CCS product portfolio strategy contributing towards the commercial directorate achieving its 2-year growth target of an additional £8b of spend under influence by the end of FY 24/25
  • Support the business plan target to increase the delivery of spend related commercial benefits in excess of £3.3b each year 
  • Engaging routinely with stakeholders from CCS, across government and supplier organisations to drive the CCS Tail Spend and Low Value Spend strategy going forwards.  Attend various governance boards where necessary
  • Line management of Tail Spend operational management team
  • Engagement across CCS (inc. Commercial Directorate and Customer Experience Directorate) and customer groups to ensure RoE is delivered and maintained
  • Deliver the procurement of the replacement Tail Spend solution
  • Manage Strategic Supplier Relationships and stay abreast of market developments across Purchase to Pay, Source to Pay, Marketplaces, Catalogue Management, Digital Facilitation and Spend Automation tools used throughout the Public Sector and new to market
  • Work closely with the Head of Channel Solutions, the wider New Product Development unit and Commercial Directorate to support the shaping of the unit's future operating model in line with CCS corporate strategy
