Job summary

To provide support to VRD reporting to the RVU clinical lead. The clinical fellow role is responsible for providing clinical support to questions posed to VRD. This may involve undertaking literature searches to respond to scientific questions that require an evidence base and provide support to the laboratory.

Job description

•    Provide clinical advice on virological matters relating to respiratory viral infections and general clinical virology
•    Interpretation and reporting of virological laboratory results 
•    Evidence synthesis from UKHSA laboratory data and literature review
•    Writing of position papers, briefing notes, and scientific reports for diverse audiences
•    Contribution to clinical field studies and laboratory projects, e.g. protocol development, to address key evidence gaps
•    Data analysis from laboratory studies
•    Respond to Scientific questions/parliamentary questions/FOIs that require medical knowledge and evidence base analysis

Selection process details

Option 3 – External - Open to all external applicants (anyone) from outside the Civil Service (including by definition internal applicants).

The successful candidate will be appointed to the point of the Medical Post Graduate Trainee salary scale appropriate to their years of seniority.
