The Change Officer organises the planning and execution of a project or change, which includes scheduling tasks, risk and progress management, creating and managing documentation, liaising with stakeholders, completing work in line with plans and reporting progress to senior leaders.

The Change Officer has a direct impact on the efficiency and overall success of a project or change. This requires excellent communication, organisational skills, logical thinking and problem-solving.

Job description

Working as a Change Officer brings new tasks and challenges on a daily basis. Some of the main duties and responsibilities you can expect to undertake in this role are as follows:

  • Support the Project Manager or Business Change Manager of the project or change you are assigned to.
  • May be required to manage and lead small-scale projects or project workstreams within large-scale projects.
  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to support the delivery of activities and ensure they are engaged and communicated with at all stages.

Person specification

As Change Support Officer within UK Security Vetting, we are looking for people who have the following expertise and attributes:

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to follow a framework and use templates and tools in a working environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in all directions, both written and verbal.
  • Capable of clearly articulating messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Able to establish and maintain good working relationships in and outside of the immediate team.
  • Comfortable and able to work effectively at all levels in the organisation.
  • Confidence in managing resistance and conflict.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working in a project or change environment.

Desirable Experience:

  • A qualification in Project Management and/or Change Management.
  • Experience and knowledge or project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • An understanding of how people go through change and the change process.

Additional information:

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
