The Change and Release Management Team within the Group Infrastructure and Operations (GIO) are recruiting a Change and Release Administrator (ITIL).

In Defra you will work collaboratively with Change and Release Analysts and Change and Release Administrators reporting into Change and Release Managers to oversee the life-cycle of changes and releases governed by the Change and Release Management processes.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring an effective and efficient administration support for the Change and Release team to enable them to provide support to IT services.

You will support the team to enable changes and releases to be made, with minimum disruption to services which are making a real difference to people’s lives and helping to deliver a greener future.

Person specification

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining reports on change data from the IT service management tool as well as developing and maintaining monitoring of the change management workflow (e.g. dashboards)
  • Inputting submitted requests for change into the IT service management tool
  • Scheduling and taking minutes at Change Advisory Board meetings
  • Closing records when advised of their completion
  • Maintaining the change approval matrix and change and release cross functional documentation. Maintaining and improving the Forward Schedule of Change
  • Providing training / giving presentations on how to log changes
  • Chairing and maintaining cross functional documentation meetings

Skills and experience

  • Knowledge of Service Management best practice
  • Good organisational and time management skills enabling you to manage work under high pressure and urgent time scales when required
  • Excellent people skills with an ability to work in a dispersed environment with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience in relationship building skills with strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Problem and Situational skills with the ability to effectively and constructively challenge
  • Experience in setting up and taking minutes for conference calls
  • Experience in data input which will enable you to use IT service management tools to create, update and view records. Proficient skills within in MS Excel

    Location

    Please be aware that this role(s) will be contractually based in a Defra group workplace/office. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location, and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.

    Salary 

    New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band. The internal roles rules apply to existing Civil Servants, i.e. level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.
