Job summary

Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) Case Officers are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary teams, working on some of our most complex and contentious projects including offshore wind farms, airports, and power stations.   

You will be supporting case managers and Inspectors, working with colleagues across administration, environmental services, legal and policy to deliver robust examinations and recommendations.  

It’s an exciting time to get involved in National Infrastructure (NI), particularly with the focus on energy security and Regulatory Reform. You will be at the forefront of reviewing processes, guidance and developing the new ways of working. Job description

We are looking for pro-active and flexible team players, with attention to detail and a can-do attitude, to work with our existing multi-disciplinary teams in a busy and changeable project-focussed environment. 

No two days are the same in National Infrastructure. Working across different projects within multidisciplinary teams, you will provide project support to deliver robust examinations and recommendations. This can include:   

  • Liaising with a diverse range of people and organisations, on all levels of seniority.
  • Organising and attending meetings with potential applicants, taking robust notes of discussions for publication on our website.
  • Analysing large volumes of information against guidance and legislation.
  • Overseeing the processing of examination submissions, ensuring prompt publication with clear descriptions on our website, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Responding to queries from external customers, providing advice on the examination process. 
  • Supporting Examination events or site inspections around the country, managing logistics and supporting the administration and organisation of the Event. 
  • Reviewing and improving our processes and guidance.
  • Assisting member of the publics to understand and engage with an Examination. 
  • Proof-reading lengthy and technical documentation. 
  • Drafting letters and responses to emails.

Office Attendance

 All of our office-based roles are contractually located at Temple Quay House in Bristol. We encourage office attendance to foster collaboration, conversation, group creativity and employee wellbeing. You will be expected to attend Temple Quay House at least 12 times a year. Depending on your role, you may be required to attend more often than 12 times a year either permanently or temporarily to ensure we deliver our services in the most efficient and effective way for our customers. Essential Criteria

  • Experience of using analytical skills with large volumes of complex written and numeric information.  
  • Ability and willingness to attend hearings and visit sites across the country including overnight stays, up to 4 nights away (Monday-Friday), several times a year.  
  • A high standard of written and oral skills. 
  • Good organisational skills 
  • Ability to work in a changeable working environment and adapt to changes in priorities. 
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office 365.  

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of consenting regimes similar to that under the Planning Act 2008 (for example, processing of planning applications and appeals).
