Job summary

The Corporate and Delivery (C&D) Communications, Business Change and Engagement Lead is a key member of the Director General’s Communications and Business Change Team, reporting to the G6 Head of Communications and Business Change. This is a challenging and fast paced role, positioned at the heart of a dynamic and varying area of the Home Office. You will work within a proactive team across a high paced environment as well as being integral to the vision and strategy setting for Corporate and Delivery Communications closely aligned to the Corporate Communications strategy.

You will have deep expertise in communications and stakeholder engagement to ensure that business change communications are delivered effectively and consistently, liaising with Communication Leads across Corporate and Delivery and the Home Office. You will work with a diverse range of stakeholders and communities across the business, and will be responsible for ensuring colleagues feel consulted, and supportive, of our work, through clear and transparent communications and proven stakeholder engagement methods.

You will be responsible for contribution and maintenance of the C&D forward look of change and delivery, with responsibility for ensuring that key successes are drawn out and consistently shared across relevant channels including reporting to Ministers and Senior stakeholders across Home Office where required.

Job description

You will have line management responsibility for direct reports. You will work closely with the Head of C&D Communications and Business Change, tasking the team as appropriate, encompassing everything from coordinating and delivering staff events, article publishing, to delivering the overall C&D communications strategy.

You will be an experienced communicator, verbally and in writing, a skilled listener and will be able to transform complex information into compelling communications at pace. On any given day, you’ll be able to juggle competing and varied demands and be comfortable with working to multiple, and often urgent, deadlines. You’ll be a confident decision-maker, able to quickly grasp complicated issues whilst building and maintaining open and strong relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders with differing agendas and needs.

You will have exceptional stakeholder management skills and will represent C&D communications across the business, deputising where necessary for Head of Communications and Business Change.

You will also take responsibility for ‘bigger picture’ requirements beyond your immediate area, demonstrating willingness to adapt priorities and current activities to support broader C&D delivery objectives.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.  This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estates capacity, by Spring 2024.  Applicants can request further information regarding how this may work in their team from the Vacancy Holder (see advert for contact details).
