You will need to have strong communication skills with a keen eye for detail, the ability to work together within your own team and across other areas, and be organised in your approach. You'll be someone who trusts their own judgement and has confidence in making decisions. While you're comfortable taking ownership of your work, you also relish a challenge and enjoy solving complex problems and planning ahead.

You may have decided that you’d like a career in one of these areas: perhaps you’d like to go further in intelligence, or develop your career in economic or cybercrime. Otherwise you may just want to start to learn the ropes before you decide where you head to next.

Job description

At the NCA, you'll to be engaged in a diverse range of fulfilling work in support of our operational teams. You’ll work in a collaborative environment that places a strong emphasis on teamwork and where we embrace individuals from varied backgrounds, of different ages, and with a wide range of skills. Our Business Support roles (HR, CBS, Strategy, Investigations and Intelligence) are essential to all areas of core enabling capabilities and the wider agency. You could be working in a team supporting intelligence gathering, or working as part of a team that ensures the smooth running of a command. Your work will be administrative and you will be a vital part of the team you support with your views and contributions valued as we focus on protecting the public from serious and organised crime.

You will be placed in one of the many operational and corporate areas of our business, collaborating with colleagues across the different business areas and supporting their vital work. In this role, you will be placed within a particular Business Area of your preference. You will build a foundation and in-depth understanding of your business area whilst still having a view of the bigger picture with other business areas within the Agency. Therefore you’ll get a real understanding of the areas you work in, building relationships, developing in-depth expertise and an understanding of how it all fits together. With a real understanding of how the agency operates, you may choose to remain in your command or profession and take your career much further, supported by our internal training programmes. Depending on your location you could gain qualifications and accreditation to help you to progress. Alternatively your career may take you elsewhere into one of our many exciting corporate or operational areas across the agency. All of our officers will have the chance to steer their career and apply for a range of roles across the NCA.  

You could work in one of a number of areas: Intelligence, Investigations, Strategy & Change, HR & Recruitment, Finance, Legal, Information Management, Fleet, Policy & Compliance, Sustainability, Estates or Commercial.  

You may have a keen interest in one of these areas over another, and on your application form you’ll be invited to express a preference in a particular area. You’ll provide the administrative support necessary to keep these areas running. 

This role may involve occasional travel across the UK to other NCA sites.

Person specification

As we are recruiting for multiple positions, core daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, tasks such as:

  • Monitoring budget expenditures                                                                       
  • Preparing & checking important case paperwork and kit                                 
  • Collaborating with internal teams to raise requisitions and purchase orders
  • Producing monthly reports & developing dashboards of data for presentation
  • Assigning work to be completed and monitoring performance
  • Managing training courses and coordinating recruitment campaigns
  • Dealing with suppliers and providing a service to internal customers             
  • Coordinating fleet vehicles & ensuring their upkeep
  • Facilitating and minuting meetings with both internal and external partners
  • Supporting the delivery of change projects with logs and registers updated
  • Identifying areas for improvement and innovation to improve efficiency
  • Developing your knowledge and understanding of crime threats to support the multi-agency response                                                                               
  • Searching, collating and analysing data from multiple sources and data systems to identify potential intelligence gaps.

Interview Details 

You will then be asked to attend an interview in order to have a more in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence. 

Interview will consist of Behaviour and Technical based questions. 

Interviews will take place throughout May 2024 - locations to be confirmed. Please be advised that the type of interview (eg. virtual/face-to-face) may be subject to change and successful candidates will be notified of this prior to attending. Additional Information 

  • The NCA is a 24/7 organisation, and working patterns must support business requirements. Some roles may require you to respond at short notice or outside of core hours.
  • Individuals will be required to undertake and pass a substance misuse test as part of pre-employment checks.
  • Successful candidates may be required to undertake a medical. If required, the medical will take place in either London or Warrington. Unfortunately, travel costs will not be reimbursed.

This role is being advertised on a permanent basis.
