Job summary

We are seeking a high-calibre individual to join the Project Management and Delivery Profession (PMD) Office as a Business Support Manager, with responsibility for supporting the smooth delivery of the PMD office within Ofgem. You should have excellent attention to detail and record keeping, along with the ability to organise events and manage budgeting. 


The role’s focus will be to work with senior leaders to implement change, understand risks and ensure the effective development and embedding of the new PMD Professions Office within Ofgem. Work with colleagues in other areas to facilitate delivery, ensuring activities are carried out in line with agreed plans, priorities and delivery dates. Deliver individual support activities or projects to improve outcomes and drive effective and efficient embedding of the newly created PMD Professions Office.

Job description

  • Contribute to the success of the PMD Professions Office via direct support to the Deputy Director and/or member(s) of the PMD Profession Senior Leadership team.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the office by overseeing and prioritising the day-to-day flow of operations, actions, and wider business activities.
  • Take a lead role in employee engagement and internal communications activity within the PMD Professions Office.
  • Deliver projects or key workstreams that support embedding of the Office, as
  • Engage with Other Professions Office colleagues across Ofgem to develop shared understanding of problems and collaborate on effective solutions.
  • Support the drafting of communications materials ensuring they meet quality standards and expectations.
  • Provide support to the Head of Profession and Professions Lead, including organisation of employee engagement events and internal communications, as required.
  • Proactively challenge and evolve thinking within the PMD profession and beyond, encouraging the Professions Office to be more efficient, more effective, and more ambitious, supporting continuous improvement and ongoing business process
  • Support business continuity activity as
  • Support the management of key internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of business support services where required.

Person specification

Essential Criteria: 

  • Professional experience in an operational delivery / business support role, with proven prioritisation and organisation ability – LEAD

 

  • Experience of delivering improvement at a local level and a good track record of development and innovation.

 

  • Significant experience and a track record of delivery, through partnership / collaborative working, at pace.

 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver complex messages to a variety of audiences, including Executives/Boards.

 

  • Proven ability to assess and judge a situation, providing excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills at senior levels, internally and externally.

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Experience in project and programme management of new initiatives, including robust governance.

 

  • Proven aptitude for leadership through formal or informal management of others.
