We need a Business Relationship Manager who will play an essential role in reaching out across the organisation to:

  • Build trusted partnerships
  • Engage directly with senior leaders in identifying strategic roadmaps, and understand business problems
  • Develop high level requirement for services, assist governance, assess value for priority and bring issues to resolution.

DWP Digital is transforming how we deliver our IT services, and the Citizen Information team is core to how we share and re-use citizen information to drive and support that transformation.

As custodians of people data across more than 100m citizen records, we are responsible for critical services that deliver 24/7 for DWP and other government departments. We already share information with several government departments, and we are about to embark on a range of exciting new initiatives to maximise the re-use of data within DWP and right across the public sector, driving efficiencies and improving citizen journey.

Job description

The Business Relationship Manager within Citizen Information will be resourced as part of the Core Delivery team but will also support the PDU (Product Development Unit) Deputy Director over a wide range of work commissions including recruitment, planning, risk management and accommodation.

This is a high-profile post in a busy, fast paced, environment. The successful candidate will need to understand and manage stakeholder, user, customer, supplier and partner needs through continual engagement, transparency and building good relationships. Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising closely with individual Product Owners to collate and maintain delivery plans at PDU level.
  • Managing stakeholders, building effective relationships across DWP Digital, other Government Departments and suppliers through continual engagement and transparency.
  • Developing reports and analysis to support PDU management processes.
  • Supporting the CI PDU delivery, including consistent and effective communication, managing risks and dependencies.
  • Providing coaching and upskilling sessions to colleagues face to face or via Microsoft Teams.
  • Managing recruitment campaigns for both permanent and temporary staff on behalf of Citizen Information PDU Deputy Director.
  • Administering the progression of commercial vehicles.
  • Supporting the Supplier Relationship Review sessions to reflect on business client satisfaction and capture continuous improvement measures.
  • Be the Accommodation Lead for the PDU.
  • Working closely with the CDS (Core Digital Services) Business Management team to maintain flow of information through to Director and Senior Leadership Team.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. 

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £35,711 to £36,545.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application

When giving details in your employment history and personal statement you should highlight your experience in line with essential criteria below:

  • Evidence of an understanding of stakeholder, user, customer, supplier and partner needs.
  • Experience in building effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including, for example, Product Owners, suppliers and other government departments.
  • Experience in developing and producing accurate reports for use by the Product Development Unit or similar.
  • Strong evidence of communicating and influencing skills – able to engage with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels.
  • Strong engagement skills with a variety of stakeholders including senior officials.
  • Experience in administering the progression of commercial vehicles.
  • Some Knowledge in overseeing running recruitment campaigns.
