Job summary

The Integrated Corporate Services (ICS) is a new shared corporate service, launched in July 2023. It will provide corporate services (HR, Finance, Digital, Commercial, Security and Estates) across the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) and the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT).

Our team of just over 300 professionals will be leading the way in how these functions will be delivered in the future. Our ambition is to be the leading provider of integrated corporate services for government and set the standard for quality, efficiency, and innovation in our field.

Job description

We are recruiting one Higher Executive Officer (HEO) Business Analysts to help us support the delivery of Digital Services and contribute to developing the Business Analysis profession within DESNZ.

Person specification

As a Business Analyst, you will explore ideas for change, suggesting solutions and guiding them through to completion.
Key responsibilities for the role:

  • You will investigate reported problems to understand their root causes, scale and level of impact;
  • You will evidence the need for change and show how proposed solutions provide value;
  • You will collaborate with business representatives and users to agree scope and priorities for change;
  • You will work closely with technical and business colleagues in agile teams to deliver change that best meets user needs;
  • You will use your technical skills to define requirements and to produce models to aid common understanding;
  • You will share your knowledge and embrace continuous improvement to grow our community.

Skills and experience

Essential Criteria:

We would love to hear from you if you have experience in:

  • Investigating, analysing and solving problems and making evidence-based decisions;
  • Identifying users and assessing the level of engagement needed for successful collaboration;
  • Capturing evidence-based user needs and converting these into functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Modelling business and data views (existing, conceptual, proposed) to aid common understanding;
  • Identifying new and alternative approaches to performing business activities and opportunities for improvement or automation.

Desirable Criteria:

It would also be beneficial if you have experience of:

  • Delivering change in a collaborative team using agile principles;
  • Knowledge of requirements management and its benefits;
  • Using business architecture to inform your analysis;
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing BA skills, knowledge and experience.
