Job summary

Business Analyst working with the Digital Knowledge & Information Management (DKIM) team, supporting multiple projects and tasks using agile methodology, for a specific infrastructure-related product, working closely with the Delivery Team and key stakeholders to understand, identify, analyse user and business needs.

The Business Analyst is responsible for understanding how information is created, managed, and used within the department, and for identifying opportunities to optimise data and information management practices. Analysing current processes and driving business improvement by applying agile or waterfall methodologies to all aspects of the work.

Job description

  • Work closely with Cabinet Office business users and internal Technology Teams (Network Operations, Cloud Operations, Technical Architects and Live Service) to identify business requirements, ensuring that they align with the technology strategy to improve our current services. 
  • Work with the DKIM Strategy & Change Programme Manager to scope requirements for any given DKIM product, help the team visualise outcomes and prioritise work.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders, build relationships and clarify requirements.
  • Use best known practice methods for processes which helps to facilitate creation of scoping documents (identify and map out project requirements/processes with the team and/or stakeholders).
  • Identify and analyse problems and issues that may affect the successful transition of projects into live service
  • Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure that the team’s plans and objectives are achieved
  • Ensure that outcomes are aligned with DKIM service vision and business strategy by identifying the link between current and future business models.
  • Facilitate collaboration and effective communication amongst all stakeholders to support best practice design, build and delivery to meet the user needs.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing workload and priorities according to project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Align CO Digital objectives with Digital Knowledge and Information Management practices by identifying key data requirements. Analysing data usage patterns, designing and implementing strategies to effectively manage data and information throughout its life cycle. This includes analysing data quality, metadata, and data lineage, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Freedom of Information Act, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Public Records Act.
  • Assisting the Programme Manager in creating the ToM (’as-is’ and ‘to-be future state’) business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement. 
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings with Stakeholders and other teams X-OGD. 
  • Preparing key programme / project / BAU documentation to support Programme Manager with comprehensive risk and impact assessment
  • Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Performing user acceptance testing.

Person specification

Business analysis skills: 

  • Experience as a BA with a wide variety of business analysis tools and techniques and can demonstrate how you have applied these.
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management skills and ability to clearly communicate findings and outputs in digestible formats for a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of conducting in-depth analyses of services and processes, and working with teams to identify and implement opportunities to optimise them.

Agile working: 

  • Experience of business analysis within an agile arena.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
