Job summary

Welcome to the Department of Community Mental Health, we are a dedicated and inclusive organisation working hard to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Band 7 Senior Community Mental Health Practitioner with strong interpersonal skills to join our hard working team at Thiepval Barracks, Magheralave Road.

Job description

The successful candidate will be an experienced psychological therapist with qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) approved psycho-therapeutic interventions with experience of working in adult mental healthcare. You will provide therapy to a defined caseload and will work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to provide a specialist/occupational mental health service within the DCMH area of responsibility (AoR).

Duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing high quality, evidenced-based psychological therapy to service personnel with more complex needs under the care of the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH).
  • Managing a defined clinical caseload delivering optimum personal and professional standards to assist the care process in accordance with DCMH protocols and clinical governance.
  • Acting as a clinical and educational resource, both within the DCMH and to the broader military community, to Medical Officers/General Practitioners (MO/GP), advise Unit Commanders on mental health matters and the administrative management of personnel with mental health difficulties and lead with Health Promotion initiatives.
  • Providing specialist supervision to colleagues and staff that are working towards specialist Qualification/accreditation.
