Job Purpose

The Information, Technology and Delivery Directorate (ITDD) compromises of four teams in Information Technology (IT), Programme Management Office (PMO), Information Management and Data and Analytics. The IT Test Administrator supports the Test Management Office (TMO) within the IT function by supporting and ensuring all changes within scope of the ITDD are validated and aligned to existing test governance to protect the integrity of all business environments and systems.

About The Role

In order for any technology change to be successful the appropriate level of quality assurance needs to be undertaken. The role of the IT Test Administrator is responsible for supporting the strategic test approach works effectively with the Test Manager and Test Analyst to determine which types of testing (e.g., functional, non-functional, UAT) are required and aligns the business and IT test phases.

The IT Test Administrator will need to support the overall test approach & methodology and be seen as an important part of the development lifecycle.

 

Job description

Principal Responsibilities

  • Defines test scenarios/cases from source material (e.g., requirements, user story) or subject matter experts in the absence of source material.
  • Raises any potential gaps in coverage of test scope with the Test Lead during test design activity.
  • Defines test scripts as required.
  • Conducts testing as set out in the test plan and provides timely & detailed updates to the Test Lead
  • Documents all defects/bugs encountered during test execution activity.
  • Tracks defects/bugs through to resolution and carry out retests & regression testing where required.
  • Aiding the development/support teams during their defect/bug investigations.
  • Contributing to ideas and providing feedback to assist in the development of the products and services.

This post may be undertaken from a base at any one of ONR’s office locations (Bootle, Cheltenham, or London).

Qualifications

Successful applicants should hold or be willing to achieve the following qualifications within the first 12 months: 

  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation
  • ITIL Foundation V4

  • A proven understanding of and a keen interest in Information Technology
  • The ability to understand technical matters and solve problems.
  • A logical systematic approach to analysis. Monitor and report the status and progress of various tasks to different stakeholders and to agreed quality standards.
  • Evidence of being able to communicate to and work effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability of delivering a quality service whilst being able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confidence in the use of modern Microsoft based IT tools and applications.
