Legal Services Directorate (LSD) undertakes both criminal enforcement work on a range of offences that underpin the insolvency regime and civil litigation work arising from director misconduct. Our directorate consists of approximately 82 staff who make up our Criminal and Civil enforcement teams, and a Paralegal team.

The purpose of this post is to provide line management to two Paralegal Assistant Managers, and act as reporting manager for their small team of Paralegal Assistants, who are responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to the in-house legal team. The post-holder will also work closely with other Business Support staff to facilitate our recruitment campaigns and other non-casework tasks.

Job description

This is an exciting role within our directorate. As a Business Support Manager, you will line manage a small team, who are responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks, as well as providing support to our Senior Management Team on our recruitment campaigns and other non-casework tasks.

As a Resourcing Officer you will work closely with managers to advise on recruitment. are responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks, as well as providing support to our Senior Management Team on our recruitment campaigns and other non-casework tasks.

Responsibilities

As a Business Support Manager, you will:

  • Manage multi-layered recruitment campaigns within LSD, including engaging with successful applicants and ensuring appropriate induction packs are in place
  • Line-manage a small team of administrators and drive performance to ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved through the regular review of management information
  • Work closely with another B2 / HEO colleague to share responsibility for a range of Business Support tasks including Intranet editor and regular provision of management reports
  • Provide administrative oversight to specific criminal cases ensuring timely progression through the Court process
  • Act as Capability Champion for LSD supporting colleagues with a self-driven approach to learning
  • Act as Local Records Officer to ensure retention processes are in place and adhered to within the directorate on all case management and storage systems
  • Support the Head of Business Support with wider LSD and Agency initiatives
  • Work with colleagues across LSD and the Agency to develop and share best practice and policy

Selection process details

The Insolvency Service is currently delivering an exciting five-year transformation project that started in April 2022 which will define our future direction supporting a gradual migration to a Regional Centre model combined with smarter ways of working. As part of this, transforming our estate will align us with the government modernisation programmes making The Insolvency Service a great place to work.  

We are letting you know about our future plans because if you are joining the Insolvency Service and are recruited into an office over the next five years that is not one of the Regional Centres, you will be expected to move to one of the Regional Centres in the future. This move would not attract financial assistance.   

The 11 Regional Centres are : Birmingham, Cardiff, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Ipswich, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Stratford.

Hybrid Working

Insolvency Service operates a hybrid working policy subject to business need, giving people the flexibility to choose when and where they work and collaborate with others.
