Job description

Your main responsibility will be to provide advice and guidance on policy and process relating to attendance management cases within the agency. You will provide regular training for all managers across the agency, ensuring colleagues are up to date with our attendance management policy and ensuring best practice. You will also proactively manage the long term sick cases in DVLA.

You will work closely with your team, ensuring that our policies and procedures around attendance management are adhered too. You will coach colleagues within the agency around policy and provide line management to one member of staff.

Responsibilities  

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: 

  • Supporting managers to achieve their attendance targets by providing timely advice and guidance on applying policy and process to cases including Occupational Health referrals.
  • Providing appropriate training for managers across the Agency on attendance management policy and best practice.
  • Ensuring managers take action in relation to sickness absence trigger points and associated procedures up to and including dismissals.

Additional Information  

Occasionally, you will be required to travel to our office in Birmingham, however you will be notified in advance.

This role will be based in Swansea, and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development, and collaboration with colleagues.  

Therefore, the expectation is that you will spend a minimum of 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace (DVLA). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process. 

Person specification

We are seeking someone who has experience of providing guidance and robust recommendations to internal stakeholders, where your outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills will enable you to influence and challenge at all levels.

To be successful, you will need to be someone who can be diplomatic when faced with challenging situations. You are passionate about people, being able to drive integrity, fairness and consistency at all times.

You are someone that is able to draft and produce high quality documents, presenting these documents to senior leaders and customers within a timely manner.

If you do not already hold a CIPD qualification, you must be willing to work towards this if successful.

Interviews will be held from Tuesday 19th March 2024.

This interview will be conducted on site at DVLA, Swansea. Further details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.
