We’re looking for two Associate Product Managers to join our Future Production team and help us make a difference to our planet. 


Job description

As our Associate Product Manager – Future Production, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. 

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, based in Exeter.

Your world of expertise 

As an Associate Product Manager in the Future Production team, you’ll be responsible for supporting our Product Management teams in creating and managing new science and data products from our Supercomputer to our Production systems, gaining Product Management experience in a unique environment as we fundamentally change the way we forecast the weather.

You will work as part of an integrated Product team identifying new, innovative ways of developing, building and sharing our world leading science, data and weather output.  This will take advantage of our new supercomputing capability where we are making fundamental changes to the way we model our weather and climate which necessitates changing many of our supported systems, products and services. 

Your key duties 

  • Provide support to Product Managers and Senior Product Managers on a variety of Product Management tasks related to the project you are working on.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise in the Products you are working on, identify, understand and manage dependencies and use your expertise to optimise the ‘sum of the parts’’.
  • With support and guidance from your Products team, generate and maintain Product and Service artefacts.
  • Undergo on-the-job training to progress to Product Manager skills and competencies.

Person specification

Essential Criteria, skills and experience: 

  1. You are an Expert by Nature with your understanding of Agile product management processes, how they benefit customers/users, and how you can use them to deliver change and improvement in tight timescales.
  2. You possess good analytical skills with an ability to Keep Evolving to problem-solve independently, as well as recognising when issues need to be escalated.
  3. You work Better Togetherby building trusted relationships to develop and improve a product or service as part of a multi-faceted team.
  4. You possess good communication skills, including an ability to simplify complex problems to aid decision making.
  5. You are keen to develop your Product Management career and want to develop an understanding of Met Office customers, products and services.
