Job description

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) are recruiting for an exciting Associate Information Manager role based in Barrow-in-Furness. You will be joining a small knowledge and information management team delivering activities in support of information, records and knowledge management working with a range of stakeholders across the business and its suppliers. The team is responsible for the development, delivery and future support of Information Management Solutions including Office 365 SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams. You will also support the development, implementation and use of collaborative working capabilities between the SDA and its suppliers.

At the SDA, we champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role. This is a predominantly office-based role, and you will typically be required on site 3-4 days per week.

Whilst on-site, you will benefit from our wide range of facilities which include a restaurant and cafe, free parking, good public transport links and with being based on a dockyard, a chance to get up close to the submarines.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensure information is being captured, stored, distributed, used, processed, retained and eventually disposed of, to meet the requirements of the law, MOD policy and guidance and the requirements of the business.
  • Manage an Information Support Officer to deliver Knowledge and Information Management projects to meet the needs of the business, understanding business requirements and ensuring solutions meet customer and legislative requirements.
  • Carry out knowledge, information & records management requirements capture; support development and build of information solutions to agreed standards; work with digital partners to provide advice.
  • Review business processes, technical capability and customer experience, identify improvements, assess feasibility and recommend new approaches where appropriate and share in the community.
  • Deliver knowledge and information management related training and briefings.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience and/or Relevant qualification in Knowledge and Information Management in a large organisation.
  • Relevant experience dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
