Job summary

This is an exciting time to join the digital team as we work collaboratively to deliver unique services which benefit civil servants across government to improve efficiency, promote data quality and increase governance to vital government priorities.

The Associate Delivery Manager HEO role will sit within an established team of digital experts and assist in managing a team of external digital contractors. The Digital Team of the Government Commercial and Grants Services delivers a number of digital tools such as Spotlight, a cross-government automated due diligence tool and the recently transformed Government Grants Information System (GGiS).

This role will require development of strong working relationships internally with existing GCGS digital and data teams. It will require engagement with data owners in government and elsewhere; and with external digital delivery partners.

It is a future possibility for successful applicants to be given the opportunity to join and complete an Associate Project Manager L4 Apprenticeship over an 18-24 month period.

Job description

Key deliverables and jobholder responsibilities will include:

  • Manage delivery of GGIS to their cross-government user base;
  • Manage an external digital delivery team.
  • Deliver new pilots to improve efficiency and data quality in systems;
  • Support the development of new functionality through existing pilot work alongside data and analytics team;
  • Work with a diverse range of stakeholders, supporting and influencing them to drive uptake and better use of the products;
  • Ensure effective documentation and reporting into the governance structure.
  • Complete the User Feedback loop by staying engaged with customers, listening and storying their feedback into user journey’s.
  • Work to support Departments and ALBs in defining and understanding specific problems when administering grants, so initiatives are as effective as possible;

Who you are

We’re looking for people with strong communications skills, both written and verbal, who can work in mixed and embedded teams and with a diverse stakeholder environment. Ideally you will have experience working in a digital team or delivering digital services.

Essential criteria

  • Be comfortable with data and technology and be able to recognise user issues and digital problem solving;
  • Have a good understanding of project management techniques and how they can be applied to manage progress;
  • Have experience of working with a range of stakeholders and building trusting working relationships;
  • Have experience in understanding business processes and how they can be altered.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Be confident in working in a variety of environments, on a variety of topics at the same time;
  • Have strong organisational skills;
  • Have experience and interest in shaping data analytics policy to improve access to and use of analytics;
  • Be comfortable working in a high pace environment and working with stakeholders to drive forward activity.

    Additional information:

    A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
