Job summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations.  The Combat Manoeuvre Centre (CMC) is looking for a motivated and driven individual to join the Quartermaster Technical Department in Bovington! This is an exciting opportunity for you to become a member of the team supporting the Armoured Fighting Vehicles Schools Regiment. The Regiment trains soldiers in driving, maintaining, and operating armoured vehicles and equipment.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. Job description

In this role, your main responsibilities are to provide organic logistical support to the CMC. You will be responsible for the miscellaneous technical equipment held on account, maintaining stock levels, receiving, and issuing demands, processing all receipts/issues of stock onto MOD systems, including the completion of all paperwork required.

Person specification

We are looking for someone that has excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be supporting personnel of all ranks, military and civilian. You will also have the ability to react quickly and positively to change. Strong customer service skills are required along with basic digital literacy, although full training will be provided on using the tailored computer systems for stock control and inventory.

An outstanding teammate, the successful candidate will be able to work closely with their military colleagues, civil servants, and contractors alike.

The Technical Logistics Support role requires a degree of physical ability as you will be expected to lift and carry, boxes of vehicle / weapon spares and equipment around the store (also load / offload vehicles), and place / retrieve items and boxes from shelving that may be above head height. In accordance with HSE guidance, any lifting task will not exceed the recommended maximum manual handling weight of, men (25kg) and women (16kg).
