Job summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. 

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) has been providing officer training in its current form since 1947 and is known throughout the world as a leading military training academy for British and International Officer Cadets (Ocdts) as they begin their military careers and throughout their service in the Army.

RMAS is looking for a motivated and driven individual to join the Quartermasters (QM) Department in the role of Storekeeper.

We are looking for a friendly, well-organised and adaptable person to work alongside other civilians and military personnel and be part of the team.

The role of a Storekeeper is hands on and customer facing, therefore there is an expectation to be on site for most of the working week.

Job description

As the Senior Storekeeper in the Equipment Store, you will be expected to:

  1. Run the Equipment Stores Account and maintain the Consumable /Expense Account
  2. Prepare defective equipment for Conditioning Boards conducted by Quartermaster (Technical).
  3. Prepare items for returning through official channels.
  4. Maintain and care for all stores items.
  5. Review and complete stocktaking of all associated stores items.
  6. Lead the initial issue and de-kiting of personal equipment for Officer Cadets and permanent staff.
  7. Maintain safe working practices throughout the stores and report any shortcomings to the Stores Officer.
  8. Supervise the Equipment Store team members and assume the responsibilities of the Line Manager in their absence.
  9. Manage the Military Freight Overseas store.

Person specification

We are looking for someone that has strong customer service skills along with basic digital literacy. They will demonstrate the ability to react quickly and positively to change and will understand the importance of following manual handling regulations.

A great teammate, the successful candidate will be able to work closely with their civilian and military colleagues, as well as managing their own time effectively.

Previous store keeping experience would be a benefit and full training will be provided on using our MOD systems for stock control and inventory.
