Job summary

The Mechanised Infantry [Boxer] Programme is a family of eight-wheeled Armoured Personnel Carriers which will deliver the Army's Mechanised Infantry capability within the Armoured Brigade Combat Team.

Job description

This is an exciting time to join the Army Programmes directorate as we seek to employ Safety Manager to enhance our existing team, making a significant contribution to Defence and the Nation.

We are looking for a highly motivated, well organised, and experienced individual to join us on the Army’s Mechanised Infantry [Boxer] Programme team. The programme is part of the Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP).

 

This role provides input to one of our most critical Programmes, some of the main responsibilities include;

 

  • Development of Safety evidence and documentation, supporting the progress of the Programme
  • Adapting lessons learned and analysing the newly emerging Defence and Army safety policies
  • Diligently supporting the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) in providing correct programme governance, representing their wider interests in the Safety management processes.

 We will be looking to utilise a reserve list from this campaign. This means that high-calibre candidates will be contacted after the interview process to discuss similar opportunities in Army Programmes without the need to re-interview.

Person specification

Main Responsibilities include:

  •  Attending relevant Safety and Environmental Working Groups and Panels.
  • Providing advice across the Programme to colleagues at all levels to develop best practices, especially within the requirements of Health, Safety and Executive (HSE) legislation.
  • Develop effective working practices with key stakeholders, ensuring the pre planning for implementation of HSE Protection Law.
  • Ensuring the Boxer capability is safe, and that suitable and sufficient training is relevant in its delivery.
  • Contributing to the development of evidence that supports the Safety Environment Case by implementing risk controls.
  • Ensuring all safety related documentation is produced and updated at the relevant life cycle.
  • Producing a Safety and Environmental Management Plan that identifies the arrangements required to sustain the safety performance of the system.
  • Producing a Preliminary Hazard Identification and Analysis (PHIA) to understand what the hazards and accidents are, why and how they might be mitigated.
