Job summary

Within the APC, the Career Management Operations (CM Ops) Branch meet the needs of the Army in Defence by matching Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel to Army posts. Within the Branch, the Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS) team support the advertisement of, and management / onboarding of individuals selected for a pool of several thousand full time opportunities within the Army offered to Army Reservists or ex-members of the Regular Army. The FTRS Branch comprises 3 teams with differing roles, this role is within the Application team.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Role Responsibilities:

· Manage applications for FTRS posts from receipt of application through to confirmation of selection for post.

· Receive applications via the SERVE post advertising platform and carry out initial staff checks on eligibility for FTRS, where appropriate assisting applicants to ensure that applications are correctly submitted.

· Liaise with and support applicants for FTRS, ensuring that where possible applications are converted into full time serving personnel.

· Ensure recording of all elements of the applicant and application process is maintained on the central Spreadsheets.

· Check and forward applications to the teams responsible for managing the selection of applicants.

· On notification of acceptance of a job offer from a Service person, carry out initial processing, including initiating Criminal Records Bureau and security clearance checks; prior to submitting to the FTRS In-Service Team for formalising of commitments.


Person specification

This role requires someone who can work at pace to meet important deadlines, while ensuring that policies and procedures are always followed. The post holder is required to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both within the APC and the wider Army. Over and above the core behaviours, the post holder will be pro-active, enjoy working in a busy section and be a reliable team player with good verbal and written communication and good organisational skills.

A solid understanding of Microsoft Office and Excel would be desirable.
