Founded in 1908, Queen Victoria School is set in 45 acres of beautiful Perthshire countryside. We exist to provide stability and continuity of education, within the Scottish system, in a caring but stretching learning environment, valued by the military families whom we serve. With priority given to Scottish Service personnel, and those who have served in Scotland or as part of a Scottish regiment, the schooltakes around 270 pupils from ages 10/11 to 18. We are currently looking to appoint a 0.6 FTE Teacher of Business Management who shares our core values which are set out clearly in the attached Job Pack. The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Business Management across all secondary year groups. You will support the Principal Teacher of Computing & Business to enhance provision and will have the opportunity to be involved with exciting project work throughout the year. We are looking for an outstanding, committed and motivated, qualified teacher to contribute to the development of teaching and learning in the curriculum. This is an ideal opportunity for a classroom teacher who can display a real passion for developing and inspiring the pupils in their care. 

This position is advertised at 21 hours per week.


Job description

The duties of all teachers include the following:

1. Teaching assigned classes including the supervision of classes for absence cover.
2. Preparation of lessons and contribution to the development of courses as specified by the Principal Teacher or Line Manager as appropriate.
3. Assisting in the development of the school curriculum and all national initiatives.
4. Assessing, tracking/monitoring and reporting as well as attending parent/teacher meetings as required by the School.
5. Presentation of pupils for National Qualifications as required.
6. Undertaking appropriate CLPL, including school in-service days as required.
7. Contributing to the professional development of colleagues, including probationary and student teachers.
8. Appropriate classroom management skills, with due regard to students’ Health and Wellbeing.
9. Advising and guiding pupils on Health and Wellbeing matters when appropriate.
10. Regular attendance at school’s morning assembly is desirable.

Responsibilities also include:
1. Providing support for pupils at events such as sports days, concerts, stage productions, displays etc.
2. Part-time teachers can apply to be Boarding Tutors. Boarding Tutors are paid and additional Boarding School Allowance. Boarding Tutors are required to do one duty evening per week of 4 hours and 8 weekend days per academic year (8 hours per day). In addition, Boarding Tutors assist in the Hobbies programme by offering a minimum of 1 hobby per week for 1 hour between October and March.
3. All teaching staff work closely with the pupil support department to address barriers to learning and develop appropriate intervention strategies for our pupils.
4. Teachers must take reasonable care of their own safety and that of their colleagues and any persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work. They are required to co-operate with their employer, as necessary, to enable any duty or requirement imposed on their employer by, or under, any of the relevant statutory
provisions to be performed or complied with
5. Teachers are personally responsible for equal opportunities awareness and ensuring that they are aware of, and carry out, the provisions contained in the MOD equal opportunities policy.
6. To be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults. 

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working.  This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.  Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. At sift, you will be assessed on a personal statement, CV and the 4 Technical skills, for the interview you will be assessed on the 4 Technical skills and a class room observation.
