Job description

This job role is within Digital Services and Technology in the Vehicle Certification Agency. The Application Operations Engineer maintains services and is responsible for conducting user and security administration.  This role reports into the Senior Application Operations Engineer and is part of a multi-disciplined team managing a broad suite of digital products and applications.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support operation of VCA’s suite of business applications (such as Dynamics 365 and Business Central) in line with business requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of support processes and contribute to any changes required for new applications/functionality.
  • Fix technical problems and/or escalate to relevant suppliers for resolution.
  • Investigate problems with systems and contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
  • Design and develop reports in line with business requests.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of test plans.

Person specification

You will have:

  • Experience in application/functional support.
  • Excellent communication skills using a variety of media as appropriate (ie: presentation skills, written documentation skills).
  • Can-do attitude to problem solving.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Strong partnering, collaborating, and influencing skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to work and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Excellent IT skills, including word-processing, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint.                   

Additional Information

A minimum of 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace or on location testing.  

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement, for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week over 5 days.

There will be occasional travel to sites across the UK.

Development Opportunities

Be willing to attain Level 3 Service Management Framework qualification and capability elements of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
