Job summary

One of DCTT’s School’s, The Defence School of Electronic & Mechanical Engineering (DSEME), is a ‘whole-force’ mix of Military, Civil Service and Contractor personnel, who play a key role in delivering world-class technical training to a broad audience of soldiers and aviators across a variety of engineering disciplines ensuring the RAF and Army’s operational effectiveness. As an administrator in the J1 department, you are assisting and supporting the training staff  to ensure trainees get the best administrative support whilst undergoing training.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

As the E1 in the J1 department, you will be responsible for assisting the Regimental Accountant and Financial Systems administrator. You will be trained on the requisite courses to be able to provide cover in times of absence.  You will also act as an assistant to the Staff Support Assistant dealing with the coordination of paperwork for discipline cases.  DSEME and 8 Training Battalion deal with more cases of discipline than any other unit within the AOR (Area of Responsibility). More specifically you will :

  • Cover for the RA, FSA and SSA in times of absence. Provide support to the FSA and RA when required.
  • Filing and archiving of all receipt and payment vouchers.
  • Assist and support the SSA on all discipline cases within the Battalion.
  • Attend all JPA courses and finance courses to be able to provide support.
  • Acting as an adviser to unit staffs on all JPA queries pertaining to non public funds and discipline.
  • Custody, receipt and disbursement of all duplicate keys.  Maintain a key register and ensure the keys are rotated at least annually.
  • Act as deputy cashier to cover leave and sickness, handover procedures are to be followed.  When acting as deputy cashier being responsible for custody, receipt and disbursement of cash.
