Air Conditioning Lead Technician

£35,510 - £44,197 plus, £1,750 location allowance and excellent benefits.

You're an expert in air conditioning systems, from installation and maintenance to repairs. And you want to take your skills to a brand-new challenge. Our work supports government-level buildings in 168 countries, each with different climates. So, for us, air conditioning is about more than just comfort: it's a matter of safety. And now, you can help us take on this global challenge.

Job description

At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We help earthquake-proof embassies. And a whole lot more besides. As an Air Conditioning Lead Technician, you'll help us to support government customers by bringing your knowledge of systems to vital building and maintenance projects.

Create the perfect conditions for projects everywhere

Day to day, you'll help support air conditioning systems in unique places like embassies and government buildings. This might include producing material lists from CAD drawings, overseeing installations with precision, or producing as-built drawings. Along with this, you'll also manage tooling, equipment, and work instructions relevant to air conditioning projects. But your impact doesn’t stop there.

You'll also work alongside experts in different areas, providing your valued support. With design engineers, you'll make sure their plans are practical and possible. And with the electrical team, you'll provide essential guidance during installations. This variety and collaboration give you every opportunity to develop and mentor colleagues as you grow your skillset.

Bring your experience to unique work

Along with your NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, you’ll also have your F-GAS Category 1 certification. But it's not just about your qualifications on paper – you’ll also have hands-on experience of working with air conditioning systems, both in commercial and domestic settings. Knowledge of HVAC, including ducting and fresh air systems, and plenty of experience in electrical installations, are also key.

Discover a career that could take you anywhere

When you join us, you’ll be helping to protect the nation’s interests at home and overseas. This is a role with global reach; so you’ll need to be willing to travel where projects need you. In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary, 25 days’ annual leave and an excellent Civil Service pension. You’ll also have access to a wide range of training and development opportunities.

And while on-site at Hanslope Park, you’ll have access to an on-site gym, nursery and canteen. And we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Above all else, you’ll feel pride in doing work that helps us protect people, information, and assets here and overseas. It’s time to do your job, bigger.

A note on security clearance

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world

The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.

Hanslope Park based posts attract a Location Allowance of £1,750 per annum.
