Job summary

A vacancy exists for a Burnham Lecturer in Accreditation Group at RAF Cosford. The Accreditation Development Manager 2 will hold the position of Apprenticeship Centre Manager and is responsible to SO1 Accreditation Group (AG) for ensuring the standard of Aeronautical Engineering (TG1) and Survival Equipment (TG13) Apprenticeship provision for DSAE Cosford is such that it meets the requirements of all the associated external bodies regulations and the RAF Apprenticeship manual.

This position is advertised full time, at 37 hours per week.

Job description

You will join a dedicated team with the knowledge and expertise required to administer the most complex Apprenticeship program within the RAF. Your role will involve keeping up to date with the changes in the rules and regulations, both external and internal, that govern Apprenticeship provision for TG1 and TG13. You will also oversee and instruct users on the use of emerging technology and more efficient ways of working that are available to suit the changing regulations. This is a complex role, with a lot of moving parts, some remote to Cosford, and will require an individual who can bring those moving parts together into a smooth-running operation.

Person specification

This role will suit a qualified lecturer with good communication skills, who has a proven of working both independently and as a member of a team.

The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to use their knowledge and experience of the RAF training environment and Apprenticeship programs to successfully complete complex projects and communicate the end results to the wider Apprenticeship team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hold the Role of Apprenticeship Centre Manager
  • Deputise for SO1 AG when required
  • Liaison with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Generate and maintain accurate costing templates

Entry requirements to the BL Group will normally be a minimum of a degree or equivalent in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) subject expertise or either a Management or an Education degree and an extensive background in STEM subjects. Exceptionally, candidates with significant experience of delivery may be allowed entry with Level 4 qualifications but should be supported to obtain level 5 if practicable. In addition to this, a teaching qualification that equates to at least level 5 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) i.e., Cert Ed, is required.
