One of DCTT’s School’s, The Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME), plays a key role in delivering world-class technical training to soldiers and aviators across a variety of engineering disciplines. Currently based at MOD St Athan, DSEME’s sub-school, No 4 School of Technical Training (4SoTT) will be relocating to MOD Lyneham over the coming months, which presents an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Air Force 4SoTT.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

As the Accommodation and Bedding Clerk you will be responsible for.

Assisting the Manager by taking all accommodation booking requests: over the phone, via e-mail and face to face requests. 

Populate accommodation spreadsheet with all personnel service details.

Allocation of valid accommodation requests.

Carry out room issue and hand back at a set time, ensuring all used bedding line is exchanged for clean linen.

Report all defects and faults in rooms.

To assess spare capacity for all short notice duty accommodation requests and act accordingly.

Place all room keys in the guardroom for all courses at 4SoTT, visitors and sport teams.

Responsible for collating all used bedding and sending off to laundry and receiving the return of all clean laundry to the bedding stores.

Supplying a list of bedding sent away and checked in on return.

All damaged bedding is to be returned to logistics flight department and written off the inventory. Re-ordering of new bedding to replace written off items.

Reporting of no show customers within the allotted time frame.

Raise routine paperwork for room cleaning on occupant vacating.

Deputy Inventory holder for all bedding.

Act as deputy Building Custodian.

Inform all accommodation occupants, when mandatory legislation checks are to be carried out of their rooms.

Arrange access to all rooms for sub-contractors, with master key for mandatory legislation checks.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Alternative Working Patterns, in accordance with policy, can be considered where it can be accommodated by the business, but there may be occasions when a presence on site during standard working hours may be required. All working patterns and flexibilities are subject to agreement with the Line Manager. 

Person specification

You must be well organised and proficient in time management. You'll be required to be both proactive and reactive.
