Job summary

Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is looking for a well-organised and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to join our busy and friendly team of dedicated healthcare professionals and support staff located at HMS Nelson Sickbay, Queen Street, Portsmouth.

The position offers 37 hours per week.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for medical support to Portsmouth Naval Base. This includes Primary healthcare as delivered by HMS Nelson Medical Centre.   

Person specification

The successful candidates will be:

  • To be the initial point of contact between patients and the medical centre ensuring patients requirements are met and direct them to the appropriate department.
  • Arranging all medical appointments for the Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists (physios) and Medical Ratings.
  • Responding to general enquiries as appropriate, via the phone, email and face to face.
  • Taking and recording phone messages for all clinicians.
  • Ensuring efficient and appropriate use of clinical appointment times.
